In spring 2008, North York General Hospital entered into a two-year Hospital Service Accountability Agreement (H-SAA) with the Central Local Health Integration Network (Central LHIN).
The goal of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and the Central LHIN was to enter into a new two-year agreement for the 2010-2012 period. The economic challenges made it very difficult for the Government of Ontario to provide LHINs and hospitals with hospital funding allocations in advance of April 1, 2010, when the new agreement was required to be signed.
As a result, the hospitals were requested to sign a one-year amending agreement for the 2010-11 fiscal year based on revenues and volumes being rolled forward from the 2009-2010 agreement. A document outlining amendments to the schedule was also signed in fall 2010.
The economic and fiscal environment has remained challenging and unpredictable and the LHINs and hospitals agreed the H-SAA 2011-12 will be established by a further extension of the existing 2008-10 agreement. A one-year amending agreement between the Central LHIN and North York General Hospital took effect on April 1, 2011.
A Multi-Sector Service Accountability Agreement (M-SAA) between the Central LHIN and North York General Hospital for the period April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2014, also took effect on April 1, 2011.
A Long-Term Home Service Accountability Agreement (L-SAA) between the Central LHIN and North York General Hospital's Seniors' Health Centre for the period July 1, 2010 to March 31, 2013, took effect July 1, 2010.
