Community-Based Research

Our Family and Community Medicine Program has strong research links to the University of Toronto. An exciting aspect of our program is the growth of research in family physicians' offices, since this is where most patients are first seen and receive on-going care.

Family physicians affiliated with North York General are involved in innovative research projects that aim to improve patients' health and medical care. The projects reflect the very real issues that arise from treating patients in family practices, and thus help to make a difference in early treatment and prevention of illnesses.

Because of the breadth and volume of our services, more and more of the hospital's physicians are being asked to participate in research projects. The hospital has a Research Ethics Board and protocol.

A partnership with the North Toronto Research Network enables our family physicians to share their research ideas with colleagues from other hospitals.
