Parkinson's Program Team Receives National Award
North York General Hospital's Parkinson’s Program (Living Well with Parkinson's and the Parkinson's Clinic) is the recipient of the 2011 Commitment to Care & Service Award for Collaborative Team Initiative. The national award was presented at a gala ceremony at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel on November 28, 2011.

Teaching Excellence Recognized by University of Toronto
Three members of the hospital team have received teaching awards from the Department of Family & Community Medicine, University of Toronto. Family Physicians Drs. Sid Feldman and Brian Silver, as well as Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner Samantha Moe, were recognized at the Annual Undergraduate Education Faculty Development Workshop held on November 11, 2011. Rose Dumsha Named Diabetes Educator of the Year 2010
at the Branson Site, has been selected to receive the Banting & Best Diabetes Centre Diabetes Educator of the Year Award for 2010.
This award was established by the Banting & Best Centre, Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, to recognize diabetes health care professionals at University of Toronto-affiliated institutions who have made outstanding efforts and achievements in their role as diabetes educators. Candidates are nominated for this award by their peers, and one educator is selected each year to receive this award.
The letter to Rose included the following, "We are fortunate to have committed individuals such as yourself who have made major contributions to the advancement of diabetes care and education in the community and beyond." The award will be presented to Rose at the Toronto Diabetes Association's Annual Meeting May 5, 2011 at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Perle Feldman Recognized for Contribution to Women's Health
Dr. Perle Feldman is the recipient of the 2011 Enid Johnson MacLeodAward from the Federation of Medical Women of Canada (FMWC). Dr. Feldman is a family physician at North York General Hospital and Postgraduate Program Director, Family & Community Medicine Program.
The FMWC presents this annual award to a member who is felt to have made the most significant contribution to the promotion of women's health research and/or women's health education.
The award was established to honour Dr. Enid MacLeod, a long time FMWC member from Nova Scotia, who was best known for her research into the use of curare for anesthesia.
The award was presented Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Vancouver as part of the FMWC's Annual General Meeting.
