Orthopaedic Surgery

North York General Hospital is the largest centre in the Central LHIN doing joint implants. We project over 1,000 joint implants will be done at the hospital this year. Most of our patients return home within four to five days or are transferred to rehabilitation facilities, if needed.

As a member of the Total Joint Network and GTA Rehab Network, we collaborate with over 25 other network partners across the GTA to follow best practices and ensure patients receive the best care.

The orthopaedic services include a major focus on sports injuries and the treatment of fractures referred from our busy emergency department. In addition, we provide corrective surgery for foot deformities.

Two outstanding facilities are located at North York General, the Gulshan & Pyarali G. Nanji Orthopaedic and Plastics Centre as well as the Total Joint Assessment Centre.

We also work in partnership with area Community Care Access Centres (CCAC) and St. John's Rehab for patients who require post operative rehabilitation.

Services provided:

• Hip and knee joint replacement
• Arthroscopies
• Shoulders
• Foot and ankle
