Recruitment of New Board and Community Members

North York General Hospital (NYGH) is one of Canada's leading community academic hospitals. We provide an exceptional care experience for patients and their families, and have proudly served our diverse communities in north Toronto and beyond since 1968.

The hospital offers a wide range of acute care, ambulatory and long-term care services at four sites: General site (4001 Leslie Street), Branson Ambulatory Care Centre (555 Finch Avenue West), Seniors' Health Centre (2 Buchan Court) and the Reactivation Care Centre - Finch Site (2111 Finch Ave W).

The hospital is seeking to recruit new Board and Community members who will reflect the hospital's needs and aspirations with respect to knowledge, attributes, competencies and experience. Competencies provide the foundation for the Board composition.

We are looking to attract Board candidates who possess a complementary combination of skills and attributes including governance and strategic planning experience, leadership, as well as an appreciation for the role that diversity plays in delivering excellent care in a community setting. Above all, Board and Community members display the drive to contribute to the governance of NYGH, with demonstrated commitment to the community through participation in community endeavours, whether as a Board member or a volunteer.

In addition to these core professional competencies, we are looking for candidates with deep experience in:

  • Government and government relations
  • Public affairs and communications
