Emergency and Urgent Care

We know visiting an emergency department can be a little overwhelming. Our team is here to provide the best possible care to you and your family.

North York General Hospital provides two levels of emergency care at two hospital sites:

  1. Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg Emergency

General site, 4001 Leslie St., Toronto (Sheppard Avenue East and Leslie Street )

A full service emergency — one of the busiest in Canada. Spacious and technically advanced, it is the hospital's "front door" — most of our patients who are admitted into the hospital come in through our Emergency Department.
  2. Urgent Care Centre (UCC)

Branson Ambulatory Care Centre, 555 Finch Avenue West, Toronto (Bathurst Street and Finch Avenue)

The UCC is designed specifically to manage any urgent illness or injury that is not life threatening (broken bones, cuts,) quickly and efficiently. The Urgent Care Centre is committed to short wait times. The information on these pages will help you understand what to expect during your visit. However, if you need any further information when you are here, don't hesitate to ask a staff member who will be pleased to assist you.

: The Urgent Care Centre will be closing as of June 1, 2017. Read the message from President and CEO Dr. Tim Rutledge.
