Area Served
North York General Hospital has four areas of focus:
We increased the number of patients we see to
improve access to surgery and chemotherapy.
The screening and diagnosis of breast, prostate and colon cancer
was expanded.
We improved our process for the addition of new clinical trials.
We consolidated our Long-Term Care and Specialized Geriatric
Ambulatory Services within a renamed Elder Care Program.
We are partnering with others to improve how seniors access services.
Our services address the complex physical and mental health concerns
experienced by seniors.
Our community is well served by a strong network of family physicians
who work in partnership with our hospital.
We are a popular training site for University of Toronto family
medicine students and residents.
Physicians are adopting the electronic medical record in their
practices to enhance patient safety and preventative
care.
The Maternal Newborn Program is participating in an international
quality improvement project that monitors and evaluates
best practice in labour and delivery.
The Paediatric Program changed its name to the Child & Teen
Program.
We are making physical, structural and cultural changes to create
a warmer, friendlier environment for children, teens
and their families.
