Waterfront Marathoners Raise over $15,000 for NYGH!

With pledges still coming in, the NYGH Foundation reports that the 66 runners and walkers who participated in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon on Sunday, September 24, raised over $15,000 for the hospital.

The strong NYGH contingent at the Marathon included members of our Emergency Services Program. From left: Helen Richard, Susan Woollard, Andrea Ennis, Karyn Popovich, Nancy Harris, Wendy Cheung.

Andrea Ennis tells us,"Way back, we were inspired by Marathon Chair Bill LaMere's, speech to get involved in the Toronto Marathon 5 km. We saw this as an opportunity to support the hospital, while having fun. We got so caught up in the excitement of the race that we started to include Marathon 5 km updates at the beginning of our department meetings. "Run girls Run" became our inspirational cheer!

The day of the race - we were so proud of each other and celebrated as we each crossed the finish line! We were truly inspired by Corky Bowden, RN, and Emergency Physicians Dr. Azra Ali and Dr. Karim Jessa who completed the 1/2 Marathon.

Congratulations to our fellow hospital staff who joined in the race and made the day lots of fun."
