Following an investigation by Toronto Police,
Dr. George Doodnaught, an anesthetist at North York General Hospital,
has been charged with three counts of sexual assault of patients.
We are working with the police in their investigation, and we are
confident that these allegations can be attributed to one physician.
The incidents in question are alleged to have occurred during surgical
procedures at our hospital.
I can’t imagine how painful this must be for those patients and
their families who have come forward and my heart goes out to them.
I speak for our entire hospital team when I say we are deeply shocked
and devastated that something like this may have happened.
People put their trust in us as health-care professionals and we take
this accountability very seriously.
At North York General Hospital, we are committed to providing high
quality and safe care to patients and families in our community. Patients
should continue to feel safe when coming to our hospital.
