Newsroom The Anthurium Foundation, which closed in 2004 by order of the Board of Directors and was formerly the Doctor Daphne DaCosta Memorial Foundation, assisted with the delivery of health care both in Canada and Commonwealth Caribbean. Part of the Anthurium Foundations mission was to promote the awareness and prevention of cancer. This is the final grant from the Anthurium Foundation. North York General Hospital has several initiatives in process including: increasing the number of breast surgeries; for colon cancer, developing an early referral service for high-risk patients and increasing surgical services, especially for patients who qualify for minimally invasive surgery; and expanding services for those with prostate cancer with more diagnostic tests in medical imaging and urology and increasing outpatient clinic. North York General Hospital, including the IODE Childrens Centre, has been a compassionate, caring member of our community since 1968. As a community teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto, we provide high quality patient care in an environment built on a foundation of safety. Our core service areas include Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Maternal Newborn, Mental Health, Family & Community Medicine, Emergency, Genetics, and Long-Term Care. Contact:
