1,060 Heels Kicked Up — Raising Over $300,000
for North York General Hospital


TORONTO, May 26, 2005 — Last Saturday night, 530 people kicked uptheir heels at the 2005 Kick Up Your Heels Gala, supporting Interventional Radiology at North York General Hospital.

The hospital’s bi-annual gala, generously sponsored by RBC Financial Group, featured the one-of-a-kind Bell Canada Carnival Hall of Games Room with VIPs playing Golf Simulators, Rodeo Roper, Grand Prix Race Track, Techno Motion Dance Simulator. Check out Adrion “PeeWee” Smith of the Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts on the Rodeo Roper!

Couples partied the night away dancing to the soulful sounds of Slice of Life, a band in which two of North York General Hospital’s talented physicians, Dr. Tim Rutledge and Dr. David White, play.

Gord Stellick, noted FAN 590 Radio Personality, hosted the dinner. Gala Patrons dined on appetizers of “A Spring Trilogy;” Chilled Soba Noodle Salad in a Cosmopolitan with Chili Lime Vinaigrette’’ Miso Glazed Prawn on Mango Sticky Rice Tian; Saffron Braised Daikon topped with Kimchi and Dragon Eye Chiffonade.

The Entrée Plated Presentation was Morel crusted Beef Tenderloin on Green Garlic, Pot Wine Jus, Sunchokes and Potato Puree; Green and White Asparagus with Tangerine Sabayon. As dinner was ending, guests enjoyed a unique sports trivia contest with tough questions from those Trivia Masters, Ron Lloyd, President and COO of Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. and Gord Stellick.

A variety of delicious desserts, including Crepes Suzette flambeed with Grand Marnier and burnt Orange Sauce; Bananas Foster with Belgian Waffles and Maple Cream; and Pan Pineapple with Asian Spices flambee, Coconut liquor and Mango Nectar, were served in the games room after dinner.

Over 200 items were donated to the Silent Auction, including Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jays tickets, fine wine, art and a membership to the Mandarin Golf and Country Club. A raffle was also held, featuring a Grand Prize of a nine-day and seven-night Asian Paradise Holiday, compliments of Tour East Holidays (Canada) Inc.

Guests danced until the wee hours and had a great time, helping to raise more than $300,000 on behalf of the Interventional Radiology Suite redevelopment at North York General Hospital.
