Looking for a Family Physician? North York General is a community teaching hospital with one of the largest complements of family physicians of any hospital in Canada. Over 365 member physicians provide compassionate care to the community from their private practices in north central Toronto and southern York Region. As well, we have one of the largest groups of family physicians - 22- who provide full obstetrical care and enjoy a close working relationship with the hospital program. If you don't have a family physician, you may be concerned about finding one. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario offers a Doctor Search feature on their website that provides information about individual physicians, including practice address, telephone number, qualifications, etc., and whether they are accepting new patients. The names of specialists are also available through the Advanced Search feature on the Doctor Search page. If you come to our North York Family Physicians After-Hours Clinic and need follow-up care but do not have a family physician, the Clinic will identify a doctor that may accept new patients.
