Volunteer Services Celebrates 40th Anniversary!

Four decades ago, on November 15, 1966, North York General Hospital Volunteer Services officially came into existence. Our blue-smocked volunteers are always there to provide a helping hand and comforting presence to our patients, their families and visitors. Today, our community teaching hospital benefits from a Volunteer Services that's 1,000 people strong.

Every day for the past four decades, volunteers have been working to support our community teaching hospital. That's more than 14,500 days of service from people who embrace their community by giving back to it — day in and day out.

Over the past 40 years, Volunteer Services has given well over three million hours of volunteer service to our hospital. Since 1966, Volunteer Services has made financial contributions totalling over $5 million to support quality care. That financial support has, in turn, enhanced our ability to care through many improvements to programs and services.
