Volunteer Services Profile

Volunteers grow community by serving with kindness!
Our valued Volunteers are a crucial part of delivering compassionate care to our patients, their families and friends, making the every day operations of the hospital run smoothly.

A diverse group of just over 1,000 men, women and students are actively involved in over 50 services across three hospital sites: General Site, Branson Site and Seniors' Health Centre.

Our valued Volunteers are often the first people many visitors speak to, as they stop at the Information Desks at the General and Branson Sites. Information Desk volunteers run this service 365 days a year and are responsible for sorting and delivering thousands of pieces of mail every week in addition to providing much needed directions to visitors, patients, families and friends of our hospital. Gift Shop volunteers provide an important service to the public and raise funds to support patient care activities. In fact, the Gift Shop and other fundraising endeavours such as our Vendor Program, have raised over $5 million for NYGH over the last 40 years.
