Master Planning Engagement

In June 2019, North York General Hospital (NYGH) submitted our Stage 1 Proposal to the Ministry of Health in which we presented our long-term plan (10- and 20-year horizon) and demonstrated how NYGH plans to meet the needs of our community. The proposal re-imagines the delivery of acute care, in keeping with our communities’ rapidly developing Ontario Health Team. The planning takes into account a robust virtual care strategy and emphasizes digital technologies for patients and front-line providers. NYGH's Master Plan incorporates future trends of health care that optimize ambulatory services and technology-driven care and services closer to home. It also includes a new acute care tower to be built with a 60-bed layout footprint and upgrades and modernization to our existing beds.

Such major capital proposals take time to materialize, and they follow a very rigorous and lengthy process of reviews and approvals. As the process unfolds, it will require extensive efforts from our entire internal community of staff, physicians, volunteers, North York General Foundation and Board of Governors, as well as from our external community and care partners, municipal and provincial governments, and donor community.

The creation of our Master Plan marks an exciting time for our organization as we work to define and create the future of North York General. As we move forward in the process, we’ll be sharing updates on this webpage about our progress.
