Our Health Care Team

A multidisciplinary team works together with patients and their families to provide the best care.

This team includes:

  • Paediatricians
  • Neonatologists
  • Nurses
  • Clinical nutritionists
  • Social workers
  • Occupational therapists
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Child life specialist
  • Paediatric hospitalist
  • Lactation consultants
  • Clinical nurse educators
  • Pharmacists
  • Young patients staying on the Child and Teen Unit benefit from the care offered by paediatric hospitalists. These physicians provide care on the unit for seven days in a row. This enables children, teens and their families to have a consistent doctor responsible for meeting their medical needs.

Being at the hospital can be a scary time for young patients. To address these concerns, we have three steps in place:

  • Family Advisory Committee — To provide us with the patient and family's perspective on what we can do to enhance the patient's stay.
  • Pain policy — To reduce and/or eliminate any pain in the treatment.
  • Child life specialist — To help ease some of the anxieties children and teenagers face in hospital, using distraction therapy and medical play.
