Medical Program
The Medical Program covers a wide range of services with a special focus on the care of the elderly.
- 177 beds are allocated to the Medical Program, representing 46% of the beds at the hospital
- 61% of all patients admitted via the Charlotte & Lewis Steinberg Emergency flow into the Medical Program

The Medical Program is one of the 11 core clinical programs at North York General Hospital (NYGH) and covers a wide range of services. There are 177 in-patient beds allocated to the Medical Program, representing 44% of the beds at the hospital.
In-patient units in the Medical Program includes 5 General Medicine units with designated beds serving specific patient populations embedded within some of the Medicine units, including:
- 12 Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) beds on 5SE
- 2 Enhanced Care Unit beds on 7SE
- 10 Designated Stroke Beds on 8SE.
Other programs and clinics support the key areas of inpatient work:
- The Stroke Prevention Clinic
- Baruch Weisz Clinic
- Specialized Geriatric Services (SGS) including the Day Hospital, 9 specialty clinics, and 2 outreach programs
