Diabetes Education Centre
Open for over 30 years, the Diabetes Education Centre (DEC) offers group programs and individual counselling for people with diabetes. We welcome family members and caregivers because we know that diabetes management can be overwhelming. Having extra support may make things more manageable
Our team specializes in diabetes management through all life stages. Together, we work to make sure you have the knowledge, skills and tools you need to succeed with your diabetes management. We will stay in regular contact with your family doctor to make sure you are provided with the best possible care

Adults with type 1 diabetes
The DEC supports adults with Type 1 diabetes who use multiple daily injections (MDI) or an insulin pump to manage their blood sugars. We are an assistive device certified pump program. We encourage our patients to join our group meetings, share your stories and gain additional support from others with Type 1 diabetes who better understand what you are going through and how you feel. See our programs and resources.

Adults with Type 2 diabetes
The Diabetes Education Centre (DEC) supports adults with pre-diabetes and Type 2 diabetes, including those who are taking medication or using insulin and are having difficulty managing their blood sugars. See our programs and resources.

Gestational diabetes (Pregnancy)
The Diabetes Education Centre (DEC) offers a program that cares for pregnant people with gestational diabetes as well as those with pre-existing, pre-diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and Type 1 Diabetes. Our patients will receive both group and individualized education by our Certified Diabetes Educators and connect patients with an endocrinologist who specializes in obstetrics if needed. This program provides patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes with planning and management support before, during and after pregnancy. See our programs and resources.

Child and Teen Program (Paediatrics)
Our Child and Teen Diabetes Education Program specializes in infants, children and adolescents with Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes and those who are at risk of developing diabetes.
