NYGH Awarded Accreditation with Exemplary Standing from Accreditation Canada

North York General Hospital North York General Hospital is proud to once again be Accredited with Exemplary Standing, the highest possible designation awarded from Accreditation Canada.

Accreditation Canada is an independent, non-profit organization that delivers assessment programs for health and social service organizations to advance quality and safety in Canada.

In October 2024, four surveyors from Accreditation Canada met with teams and patients across the General site to evaluate operations against 1,935 standards and 27 Required Organizational Practices (ROPs).

North York General met a phenomenal 99.8% of standards and 100% of ROPs across all patient care and non-clinical areas. The surveyors commended NYGH’s focus on service excellence, collaboration, community engagement, governance and patient care.

The surveyors also praised NYGH’s approach to People-Centred Care including the organization’s collaborative partnerships with team members and the community, use of co-design approaches for creating and improving services and programs, and engaging patients, caregivers and families through our Patient Experience Partner program.
