North York General (NYG) is making it easier for people to book screening mammograms as part of our commitment to improve the patient experience and health outcomes.

Booking a screening mammogram at one of NYG’s Ontario Breast Screening Program locations can now be done online for women, Two-Spirit people, transgender and non-binary people who meet the following criteria:

  • Are 40 to 74 years old.
  • Have no personal history of breast cancer.
  • Have no breast cancer symptoms.
  • Have not had a breast biopsy (removing a breast tissue sample to examine).
  • Have not had a bilateral mammogram (both breasts are examined) within the last 12 months.
  • Do not have breast implants.
  • Are able to stand unassisted during the appointment.
  • If transfeminine, have used feminizing hormones for at least five years in a row.
  • Hold a valid OHIP card.

People who meet the above criteria can book routine screening mammography at NYG here. No referral or order from your physician or nurse practitioner is needed.

People who are at higher risk for breast cancer as defined by the Ontario Breast Screening Program will need a referral for mammography. Please speak with your primary care physician or nurse practitioner to be referred.

If you are unable to book a routine screening mammography online through the Ontario Breast Screening Program, or require a referral for mammography screening, you must book your mammogram by calling 416-756-6931.
