'Tis the Season: Steinberg Family Paediatric Centre receives donation

holiday donation

North York General Hospital (NYGH) received a generous donation of holiday gifts for patients in our Steinberg Family Paediatric Centre. Nam-jai which means sincere kindness and helpfulness in Thai, is a non-profit organization founded last year with a vision of supporting both North York and extended communities.

This holiday season, Nam-jai put together wellness bags in support of the mental health unit and eating disorders program at NYGH. The gift bags will help support teens who will be receiving care at the hospital during the holiday season. The organization opted to support this age group to help them during what has been an especially difficult time as a result of the pandemic. Items in the wellness bags include colouring books, notebooks, pencil crayons and pens, hats, mittens, fidget toys, blankets and socks. A total of 30 bags were delivered to the unit.

A big thank you to Nam-jai which is founded and organized by Toronto youth, including family members of Dr. Ronik Kanani, NYGH’s Chief of Paediatrics and Co-Medical Director, Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric Care. Watch a short video of the hospital donation here.
