Dr. Michael Hammer is a cardiologist and Level III echocardiographer. He completed his medical training and cardiology residency at the University of Toronto, followed by a dedicated echocardiography fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
His practice encompasses the full spectrum of general cardiology, with a focus on delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care. He integrates cardiac imaging into routine clinical decision-making to support accurate diagnosis and management.
Dr. Hammer serves as Co-Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory at North York General Hospital, where he oversees quality assurance, clinical operations, and the integration of advanced imaging techniques. He performs a high volume of transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and has particular clinical interests in TEE and transthoracic echocardiography.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Hammer is actively involved in medical education. He supervises and mentors medical students and residents, facilitating cardiology electives and hands-on echo teaching.
