Dr. Ron Somogyi is a Toronto-based plastic surgeon, having trained at the University of Toronto in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He went on to complete two fellowships in Melbourne, Australia. The first, a fellowship in reconstructive surgery at Australia’s largest cancer hospital, The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, focused on complex cancer reconstruction with an emphasis on microsurgical breast reconstruction. The second, a fellowship in general and cosmetic plastic surgery at the well-known Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery, provided Dr. Somogyi with an in-depth, wide-ranging experience in aesthetic plastic surgery. Each of these fellowships taught him new and innovative techniques and honed the unique cosmetic surgery skills he has brought back to his practice here in Toronto.
Dr. Somogyi has been on full-time staff at North York General since 2014. He is active academically as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Surgery at The University of Toronto and maintains an active research interest in both cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, particularly in the area of breast surgery. He has recently published journal articles and book chapters on breast reconstruction, surgical safety, and breast augmentation. Dr. Somogyi spends much of his private practice time looking after patients who have lost significant weight, helping them with body contouring. He is involved in speaking and teaching nationally and internationally. Dr. Somogyi’s focus is on providing the best possible experience for each and every patient, and this vision guides him in every facet of his practice.
