COVID-19 update

On February 28, an adult patient arrived at the hospital’s Emergency Department (ED) with a cough after traveling from Iran to Canada.

As per our screening guidelines and infection control protocols, the patient was cared for using the appropriate precautions and was tested for COVID-19. The patient was mildly ill and was discharged home after a few hours in the ED with instructions to self-isolate. Our medical experts worked with Toronto Public Health and the Ontario Public Health Laboratory. The Ontario Public Health Laboratory confirmed that testing for COVID-19 is positive.

Infection prevention and control protocols were followed with professionalism, clinical excellence and a patient-centred approach. Thank you to everyone involved in the care of the patient.
