Two incredible leaders promoted to Full Professor
As a community academic hospital actively involved in teaching future health professionals, North York General supports and enhances education, through collaboration with academic partners within and outside the hospital. As an affiliate of the University of Toronto, the hospital’s strong teaching role is supported by many academic links.
Dr. Joshua Tepper, President & CEO of North York General, and Dr. Rick Penciner, Director of Medical Education and Centre for Education, have been promoted to Full Professors within the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of Toronto.
“I am honoured that my work to improve the quality of care of marginalized populations has been recognized by the University” – Dr. Tepper
“Attaining the rank of Professor is a significant achievement representing years of academic scholarship and productivity. But more importantly, I think it reflects upon the achievements of North York General Hospital as a leading community academic hospital. NYGH and the people have created a culture of learning, inquiry and academic excellence that has allowed me and others to what we do best. I am most grateful.” – Dr. Penciner
Of the three faculty in the DFCM there were promoted to full professor – two of them are from North York General.
These promotions are indicative of the excellence and quality of education occurring in our hospital.
